Collecting
Practical information for acquiring and living with the work — from commissions and certificates to shipping, care, and copyright.
Commission Process
Ricardo accepts a limited number of commissions each year, ensuring each work receives the full attention and care it deserves. The commission process begins with a conversation. Every project is unique, and timelines, pricing, materials, and scope are discussed individually based on the nature of the work requested.
A deposit is required to reserve your place and begin the creative process. Final details regarding timeline, deliverables, and payment are confirmed in writing before work begins.
Certificates of Authenticity
Every original work sold comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity (COA) issued directly by the artist. The certificate includes the title of the work, medium, dimensions, year of completion, and the artist's signature — serving as the official record of the work's origin and authorship.
Limited edition prints are individually numbered, signed, and accompanied by a COA confirming the edition number, total edition size, and print specifications. Once a limited edition sells out, it will not be reprinted in that edition size. Open edition prints may also be available for select works and are clearly distinguished from limited editions at the time of purchase. Open editions do not include a COA.
Packaging & Shipping
All works are carefully packaged to ensure safe arrival. Original paintings ship unframed unless otherwise arranged, and every shipment includes full insurance coverage for the value of the work as well as tracking and signature confirmation upon delivery. Shipping is currently available within the United States. International shipping may be available upon request.
Returns & Reimbursement Policy
All sales are final for both original works and prints. We encourage all collectors to reach out prior to purchase with any questions — additional images, details, and context are always available to ensure confidence before committing. For any legitimate concerns regarding an original work, please get in touch directly and it will be addressed personally.
In the rare event that a work arrives damaged in transit, please document the damage with photographs within 48 hours of delivery and contact us immediately. All shipments are fully insured for the value of the work. Damaged prints will be replaced and reshipped at no cost to the collector. Damaged original works will be handled individually given their irreplaceable nature, with the shipment insurance covering the declared value of the piece.
Artwork Care
Original paintings are living objects — sensitive to their environment and deserving of thoughtful care. Avoid hanging artwork in direct sunlight or under harsh artificial lighting, as prolonged UV exposure can fade pigments over time. If possible, use UV-filtering glass or museum-quality lighting. Maintain stable temperature and humidity levels, and keep works away from heat sources, air conditioning vents, fireplaces, or high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens. Ideal conditions are between 65–75°F and 40–55% relative humidity.
Never use cleaning products, water, or cloths directly on the painted surface. To remove dust, use a very soft dry brush with gentle strokes and never apply pressure. For deeper cleaning, consult a professional art conservator. When handling, always support the work from the sides and bottom with clean dry hands — never touch the painted surface directly. When moving a work, wrap it in acid-free materials and avoid stacking paintings face to face. Wrap in acid-free tissue or glassine, and never place bubble wrap directly against the painted surface as it can adhere over time. If framing, use archival acid-free materials and UV-protective glazing, and consult a professional framer experienced with original artwork.
